PROJECT BASED LEARNING
The Blog Assignment:

You are the co-owner of a small website development company. Most of your clients are nonprofit organizations looking for inexpensive ways to bring attention to their causes.

In order to assist your creation of the web site, your client has sent you an essay that outlines the argument.

Today we will move to lab 128 to begin setting up the blog you design for this fictional organization behind your argument. Start by placing your argument essay on the site. The second thing you will do is send me an email inviting me to become a member of your website (samotley@vbschools.com)

Then ask

  • What can be supported with pictures and graphics?
  • What can be linked to larger more detailed sites?
  • What video can be added?
  • How does the addition of these things support my essay?
  • What revisions must I make to the original writing.

  • All of your decisions must be guided

By ethos: your involvement with the issue and the proof that important people agree.

By pathos: an emotional component. Something that touches the reader’s concern.

**By logos: a logical approach to the issue.

Your fellow entrepreneurs are your team members. Help each other. Collaborate. Ask for help when you need it.

The links, graphics and video must be saved to Sharepoint or your desktop in order for you to place them on your blog.

.Help is on the way

It's only fair to warn you that there are some problems. Sometimes Wikis clunk. But, hey, they are free so we can't complain too much. I hope you will find that the reward outweighs any of the temporary frustrations you and your students may experience. Click this link for a complete list of possible problems.

By now you surely realize that this site could be a great platform for your students' digital portfolios. Make sure that you and your students protect their pages so that only members can view their work.

When you set up your Wikispace you will be able to choose the degree of public interaction you want. You may wish to limit viewing to members only.

Don't forget that according to school board policy, no photos of students are allowed.

I invite you to join vbinfoexchange to share your wikiprojects with other teachers.
